Reinforced concrete frame, brick masonry walls, timber roof structure and full residential
construction by GAURA Construction (Pvt) Ltd in Tangalla, Southern Sri Lanka.
Mr. Thejan
Two-Storey Residential Construction
Tangalla, Southern Province, Sri Lanka
GAURA Construction (Pvt) Ltd is currently undertaking the construction of a two-storey residence for Mr. Thejan in Tangalla, a picturesque coastal town in Sri Lanka's Southern Province. This residential construction project showcases our full capability in building quality multi-storey homes for private clients across Sri Lanka's southern region - from initial foundation works through reinforced concrete structural frame, brick and block masonry walling, to timber roof structure installation and all finishing works that will complete Mr. Thejan's new home to his exact requirements.
The project photographs capture the construction team actively progressing the structural works in Tangalla's characteristically bright tropical sunshine - RC columns rising to first floor level, brick masonry walls completed on the ground floor, timber roof beam formwork being set and installed by the skilled GAURA construction crew, and the ground floor concrete slab freshly laid and curing. The site's tropical coconut palm backdrop is a hallmark of Tangalla's beautiful Southern Province landscape, and the progress visible in these images reflects the productivity and expertise that GAURA Construction consistently delivers on residential projects throughout Sri Lanka.
The structural approach for Mr. Thejan's Tangalla residence follows GAURA Construction's proven methodology for quality two-storey residential construction in Sri Lanka's Southern Province. The building's primary structural system is a reinforced concrete column-and-beam frame - engineered to carry the full two-storey loading including the first floor slab, all masonry walls, the roof structure, and all imposed live loads - designed to the relevant Sri Lanka Standard specifications and the structural engineer's calculations for the site's ground conditions and the local wind and seismic requirements of the Southern Province coastal zone.
Within the RC frame, the ground floor walls are constructed in red clay brick masonry - a premium wall construction choice that provides excellent thermal mass, durability, and sound insulation for the finished residence. GAURA Construction's bricklaying team can be seen working actively on the site in these project photographs, with courses of red bricks being laid in a stretcher bond pattern with cement mortar joints to produce straight, true masonry walls of consistent quality across all room bays. The RC columns are cast to their full two-storey height with starter bars projecting at the top ready to receive the first floor ring beam and slab formwork that will follow as the superstructure progresses.

With the ground floor masonry and RC column works progressing strongly, GAURA Construction's carpentry team has commenced the installation of the timber roof beam structure for the Tangalla residence. The project images show the red hardwood timber roof beams being positioned and fixed into place across the top of the structural frame - the first elements of the roof system that will ultimately be completed with roof battens, roofing underlay, and clay or concrete roof tiles to produce a durable, watertight roof suited to Sri Lanka's heavy monsoon rainfall and the coastal environment of the Southern Province.
The timber roof structure is designed by GAURA Construction's experienced team to provide a robust, long-lasting roof for the two-storey residence, with principal rafters, purlins, and ridge beam all sized and positioned to the structural requirement. The timber used throughout is quality-graded hardwood from certified suppliers, treated against insect and moisture attack to ensure the durability of the roof structure in Tangalla's humid coastal climate. GAURA Construction's carpentry team brings considerable experience in constructing roof structures for residential projects across all Sri Lankan provinces - ensuring the roof of Mr. Thejan's home is built to last for generations.
The construction images for this project clearly illustrate the strength and coordination of the GAURA Construction site team working on Mr. Thejan's Tangalla residence. Multiple skilled tradespeople are visible working simultaneously across different activities - bricklayers on scaffolding progressing the upper wall courses, carpenters positioning and fixing roof beam timber, labourers handling and stacking bricks, and the site supervisor overseeing the concrete slab laying work - all operating safely and productively under GAURA Construction's site management protocols.
Delivering a residential construction project in Tangalla requires a site team experienced in working in the Southern Province's distinct climate conditions - the intense tropical heat, the high humidity of the coastal zone, and the need to schedule critical concrete and masonry works carefully around the Southwest Monsoon season. GAURA Construction's experienced project managers and site supervisors ensure that construction activities are planned and sequenced to maintain progress year-round, that materials are procured and delivered to site on schedule, and that all structural works are completed to the engineer's specification and inspected at each stage before proceeding. This disciplined approach to construction management gives clients like Mr. Thejan the confidence that their project is in experienced, reliable hands from foundation to handover.
