Before any physical work begins, architectural drawings, structural plans, and local authority approvals need to be finalised. This stage is often underestimated, especially for larger properties or plots requiring additional clearances.
Site clearing, excavation, and foundation work follow soil test results (see our guide on soil tests and land surveys) and typically take between three and six weeks depending on soil conditions and foundation type.
Columns, beams, slabs, and walls go up during this stage - usually the longest single phase of the project, and the one most affected by weather during Sri Lanka's monsoon seasons.
